Leadership Conference: The Changing face of Education: Moving to a School-Led System

The St Helens TSA would like to invite all Head Teachers, Senior Leaders and Governors to the annual Leadership Conference:  The Changing face of Education: Moving to a School-Led System

The conference will be held on: Wednesday 19th April 2017, 8.45-3.00pm at Haydock Race Course, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside WA12 0HQ.

Throughout the day we have truly inspirational speakers – Dame Alison Peacock, the new CEO of the Chartered College of Teaching, Andrew Warren, Chair of the Teaching School Council,  Sir Kevan Collins, CEO of the Education Endowment Fund and Andrew Cook (Regional Director for OFSTED) and Joan Bonenfant (Senior HMI)- further details will be circulated nearer the time.

We are extremely excited about the day and the opportunities to be energised and motivated by speakers of such high calibre.

The full days conference is £50.00 per person and is ‘FREE of Charge’ for all alliance schools. Tea/coffee/biscuits/lunch and all materials will also be provided.

Emotional well-being package

The St Helens TSA has teamed up with ‘Worth-it Projects’ to offer the following emotional well-being package for Primary and Secondary School staff across the NW starting in January 2017.

The package will apply practical approaches to promoting and protecting wellbeing.

Sessions will:

·         Specialise in early intervention and prevention of mental health problems, through improving emotional health and mental wellbeing of children, young people and schools.

·          Develop mental health in schools, through a whole school wellbeing approach, workforce development and targeted support for students.

·         Support practitioners to develop skills which build resilience and promote and protect emotional health and mental wellbeing of children and young people.

The package is as follows:

·         Cultivating emotional wellbeing and resilience- Friday 10th February, 12.30pm to 4.00pm at St Mary and St Thomas CE Primary School, Barton Close, St Helens, WA10 2HS- TSA POD, behind the school. Target audience: Primary and Secondary staff

·         Strategies for developing Emotional Health and Character in children- Friday 27th January, 9-3pm at St Mary and St Thomas CE Primary School, Barton Close, St Helens, WA10 2HS- TSA POD, behind the school. Target audience: Primary staff

·         Practical strategies for developing resilience in adolescents- Tuesday 14th March, 9-3pm at St Mary and St Thomas CE Primary School, Barton Close, St Helens, WA10 2HS- TSA POD, behind the school. Target audience: Secondary staff

The Cost of the sessions is as follows:

½ day session- £40 per delegate this includes: course materials, tea/coffee and biscuits.

Full day sessions- £75 per delegate this includes: course materials, refreshments and a light lunch.

Worth-it Projects are the first organisation pioneering the use of positive psychology coaching to improve the emotional health and wellbeing of young people within educational settings. They have won awards for social enterprise and rank number one for the sector of Education and Youth on the SE100 social enterprise index 2014-15.

Assistant Head and Deputy Head Teachers Spring Term Network Meeting

The St Helens TSA would like to invite all Assistant Head and Deputy Head Teachers to the spring term network meeting to be held on:

Tuesday 7th February 2017, 1.30pm – 3.30pm at The World of Glass, St Helens.

The focus of the briefing is:

Analysis of the NEW RAISE- Understand and interpret data through the NEW RAISEonline 2016 document.

Leaders will be supported to:

  • Make evaluative judgements from data in RAISEonline to update school self-evaluation;
  • Gain an understanding of how to use the different features of RAISEonline to monitor progress of all groups;
  • Link RAISEonline analysis to your SES and SIP
  • Identify Key actions, strengths and areas for development identified

This is Free of Charge to all alliance members and £70 to non-alliance members. This includes: tea/coffee/biscuits and all course materials.

Whole school behaviour strategies

St Helens TSA would like to invite all Mid-day supervisors, TAs, HLTAs, Pastoral leads and sports coaches to a whole school behaviour strategies session.

The focus for the session will be: developing and implementing whole school behavioural strategies with a focus on their roles, de-escalation strategies and positive playtime/transition time activities.

This will be led by Jason Bangbala. Jason is a leading Educational Consultant, delivering his unique style of training to organisations across the UK. As well as training courses and consultancy work, he continues to be an active classroom practitioner. He has delivered training for the St Helens TSA at all levels- School Direct, NQTs, Teachers and Leaders within the last 12 months and continues to work with our partnership.

All the training courses are practical, interactive and highly engaging. Some of the most commonly used words or phrases from people who have experienced Jason’s training include: Inspirational, realistic and motivating!

The event will take place on: Tuesday 7th February 2017, 8.45-10.45 at The World of Glass, St Helens.

School Business Management qualifications

The St Helens TSA is working in collaboration with Best Practice Network to deliver two NW School Business Management qualifications– Level 4 and Level 5.

Level 4 will take place in St Helens- registration deadline is:  22/03/2017 with face to face days starting in March 2017.

Level 5 will take place in Wigan- registration deadline is: 22/02/2017 with face to face days starting in March 2017.
