St Helens TSA NQT Primary programme 2017-18

Please find above The St Helens Teaching School Newly Qualified Teacher Programme for 2017-18

We have delivered an NQT programme since 2013-14. All training has been arranged in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback received. As a result of building on effective practice and sharing this more widely we have extended our offer for 2017-18 to RQTs.

Schools that have signed the alliance partnership agreement will receive 1 free place.

Total cost of attendance at all sessions (full programme 25 sessions) = £1,500. The full programme would usually cost £1,500 (£60 per session) if booked as a programme/block then you will receive it for £750.00.

Cost per individual session = £60.00

Schools Direct students that have been trained via the St Mary and St Thomas CE Teaching School Alliance and have been successful in securing an NQT post within St Helens and/or a partnership school will receive this NQT training offer free of Charge.

A ‘FREE’ full day’s conference will be provided for all NQTs/RQTs on: Thursday 5th October 2017, 9-3.30pm at The World of Glass, St Helens.

Assistant Head and Deputy Head Teachers Summer Term Network Meeting

The St Helens TSA would like to invite all Assistant Head and Deputy Head Teachers to the summer term network meeting to be held on Wednesday 14th June, 1.30-3.30pm at The St Helens Chamber, Salisbury St, Off Chalon Way, St Helens, Saint Helens WA10 1FY.

The Focus of the briefing is based on feedback from the previous session:

1.30-2.30pm- Strategies to improve attendance– Dealing with poor attendance? – Check that your decisions and actions arise from analysis of the school’s attendance data so that data acts as a basis for strengthening pupil engagement through personalised and targeted approaches and systems.

2.30-3.30pm- What is Dyslexia? Identifying Dyslexia? How does it sit within neurodiversity? How can Quality First Teaching, within the first waves of the Code of Practice, make a positive impact to pupils with Dyslexic tendencies? These are some of the questions which we will begin to address. The aim of this session is:

  • To deepen your understanding of dyslexia. What is it? How does it impact learning?
  • Begin to look at strategies within Quality first teaching to support pupils with Dyslexic tendencies; as well as other Specific Learning difficulties.
  • Opportunity to begin to reflect on the quality of teaching in relation to dyslexia.

There will also be opportunities to gain information on Assessment in Dyslexia as well as further CPD training related to Quality First Teaching.

This is Free of Charge to all alliance members and £70 to non-alliance members. This includes: tea/coffee/biscuits and all course materials.
