National Professional Qualification for Headship

Stepping up to Headship? Applications for the National Professional Qualification for Headship close next Friday 21st July 2017.


If you or a colleague are preparing for a headship position, or simply want to be ready when the time comes then you can still apply for the NPQH, delivered by Outstanding Leaders Partnership (OLP), starting this September.  You can apply here.


To support prospective applicants, OLP hosted a series of ‘Submitting a Successful Application’ online briefings. You can view a recording of one of the briefings here.


The Outstanding Leaders Partnership is school led; their blended training is accessible and flexible; course content is updated and delivered by serving heads and their trainee support is total.  To understand what makes OLP’s offer extraordinary and to see first-hand the impact their training continues to have on leaders, their schools and pupil outcomes visit OLP’s website

The St Helens TSA working in partnership with the Cheshire Inclusive TSA

We would like to draw your attention to what they have to offer in the specialist area of SEND.

The core training offer focuses on:

ADHD/ Autism, we have a Dyslexia specialist also

EYFS: Autism/ ADHD/ Physical Difficulties and generalised learning difficulties provision and transition into mainstream/ from mainstream

Mental Health and Wellbeing for pupils – practical ideas and background

Attachment issues – practical ideas and background

Physical difficulties and putting together physical programmes in mainstream classroom

Challenging behaviour strategies,  including putting systems into place and CBT approaches,

Support around curriculum/ assessment for pupils with SEND

SENDCo role (we do a conference around this) and loads of ongoing training for SENDCos, it is our biggest focus

National Leadership Qualifications- Autumn 2017 recruitment window now open – St Helens TSA

As many of you may know the St Helens TSA has successfully run NPQML (National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders) and NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders) for the past 4 years. This is supported by the Best Practice Network.

We are pleased to announce that the autumn 2017 NPQH, NPQML & NPQSL registration window is now open.

A new course has been added to this suite of leadership opportunities for NPQEL: Executive Leadership Programme.

Registrations deadlines are as follows:

Applications for NPQML and NPQSL will close on the 29th September 2017

NPQH the 21st July 2017

NPQEL the 15th September 2017

The face to face sessions delivered by serving Head Teachers from the St Helens TSA has proven to be the most positive aspect of the course with 100% of candidates stating they would recommend the training to a colleague

Face to face sessions will start in late September 2017.
