NQT/RQT Annual Conference: Making the most out of your 1st Year!

The St Helens TSA lead TSA for Maths Hub NW3 would like to invite all NQTs/RQTs to the 2017 annual conference entitled: Making the most out of your 1st Year!

To take place on: Thursday 5th October 2017, 8.45-3.30pm at The World of Glass, St Helens.

8.45am: Arrival and Coffee
9.00am: Welcome and introductions- Lisa Bradshaw, Director of Teaching School Alliance
9.15-10.45am: Behaviour Management Strategies – Jason Bangbala, Behavioural expert
10.45-11.00am: Break
11.00-12.30pm: English- Raised ExpectationsMaddy Barnes, English SLE
12.30-13.15pm: Lunch and networking
13.15-15.00pm: Mathematics- Raising the bar! – Tara Loughran, mathematics consultant.
15.00-15.10pm: Comfort break
15.10-15.30pm: NQT experiences – Lessons learned delivered by RQTs previously accessed the NQT programme.
15.30pm: Q+A session and sharing of the full NQT programme. Close

Secondary Maths CPD offer- starts on Wednesday!

NW3 Maths Hub is pleased to offer an academic year of Teaching and Learning Maths CPD sessions for your whole department throughout 2017-18.

The first session starts this week: Wednesday 27th September 2017 at St John Bosco High School, Storrington Ave, Liverpool L11.

Focus: Teaching for Mastery- Creating a positive mind set. This will be delivered by: Steve Lomax, Creator of Kangaroo Maths and Glow Maths Hub lead.

St Helens Teaching School Alliance in 2017-18

The St Helens Teaching schools alliance is made up of the lead primary school- St Mary and St Thomas CE Primary, a number of Strategic Partners and wider alliance members (from the Primary, Secondary, Special and Post 16 phase) working in collaboration. Strategic Partners and members include schools within St Helens, Wigan, Warrington, Halton, Liverpool, Bolton and Knowsley.

Just to outline some of the key benefits of being part of the St Helens Teaching School Alliance in 2017-18:

  • Attendance at termly Head Teacher Alliance members meetings to shape the future of the Teaching Schools work.
  • NQT package (usually £600 per delegate) 1 free place (see attached)
  • RQT package (automatic place to support progression for ALL School Direct trainees)
  • Attendance at termly Mathematics and Literacy subject leader workshops (usually £300)
  • 20% off School to School support packages
  • 25% off CPD opportunities (usually £150 per day or £70 per half day) – including Maths, English, Science, P4C and Teaching assistant opportunities (see attached)
  • Leadership training in association with Best Practice Network- NPQML, NPQSL and NPQH.
  • An opportunity to engage in Research and Development activities of the alliance linked to National priorities (this include NW Maths Hub 3 projects)
  • To be kept abreast of all current initiatives and educational updates via the Teaching Schools mailing list and access to all areas via the St Helens Teaching School Website-

  • Free HT briefings and DHT/AHT networks.
  • Free ½ day consultation to formulate a bespoke package of training for your school or a cluster of schools.
  • St Helens TSA Leadership network (including Governance) in collaboration with ECM
  • EYFS practitioner and Leadership network (see attached)
