The St Helens TSA, in association with Oxford University is offering a leadership conference focusing on:
Raising Boys’ Achievement: Closing the Gap

The event will take place on: Wednesday 9th May 2018, 9-3.30pm at DW Stadium, Loire Dr, Wigan WN5 0UH.
The event will focus on:
- Session 1: Achievement: Setting the Context
- Session 2: Breaking Through the Barriers to Boys’ Achievement in Literacy
- Session 3: Effective Strategies for Breaking Through Other Barriers to Boys’ Achievement
The conference will be delivered by Gary Wilson, as a teacher for over 27 years, Gary Wilson has led award-winning campaigns, written several books and delivered training in hundreds of schools on the issue of raising boys’ achievement. Gary is a freelance consultant who talks about tracing under achievement from Pre-School to 16 and what we can do to prevent it. He explains about how to interact with boys to optimise learning and overcoming barriers to achievement. Gary endorses the power of the whole-school approach to motivate boys to achieve their full potential.
As a result of the conference schools will be offered the opportunity to work on a project to use and implement strategies discussed as part of the day. Further details to follow…
The cost of the full day event including all course materials, tea/coffee and a light lunch is: £25.00.
