Computing CPD package 2018-19

Dear Colleagues

Please see attached a new ‘Computing CPD package’ for autumn 2018: Computing CPD autumn term 2018-19 offer

In response to school requests we are providing 3 training opportunities throughout the autumn term:

  • Introduction to Film: Raising Literacy Attainment Through Film – Level One
  • Filmmaking for Curricular Attainment
  • Stop Motion Animation

Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

Target Audience: Primary teachers (all key stages), computing leads and TAs supporting ICT provision.

The full day sessions will include: Tea/coffee/biscuits a light lunch and all course resources.

SENDCO training in partnership with Inclusive Learning North

St Helens TSA are delighted to offer SENDCO training in partnership with Inclusive Learning North

This training package will cover the following:

  • the current role of the SENCO and what this looks like in practice
  • managing your time and workload for the SENCO role
  • the legal framework of SEND and what that looks like in policy and practice
  • accurate identification of pupils with SEND
  • where to start in the role and what to look for
  • identifying progress and outcomes in pupils with SEND
  • developing provision maps that tell you what you need to know
  • judging whether progress is good enough for pupils with SEND or whether aspirations should be higher
  • evidence to support your judgements
  • mapping interventions and evaluating the impact
  • what makes a good EHCP needs assessment application and when you should apply for one
  • getting the Annual Review process right
  • chairing meetings effectively
  • leading to ensure that every teacher is a teacher of SEND
  • managing teaching assistant deployment
  • managing resources
  • collaboration with pupils, parents and carers
  • collaboration with external agencies and other settings
  • working with your SEN Governor
  • preparing for your NASENCO Award

Course provision

  • 3 x 3-hour training sessions held during the first half of each term, specifically aimed at new SENCOs
  • 3 x 2.5-hour SEND Essentials Forums held during the second half of each term, aimed at all SENCOs
  • Continuous online support for the full year, with access to online resources and signposting information
  • Full email, phone and Skype support from the course consultant, Zena Martin, throughout the year
  • Resources, templates and handouts provided

Target audience

  • SENCOs entering the first year of their role
  • SENCOs returning to the role following a significant period away from it
