St Helens TSA- Head teacher and Leadership briefings SPRING TERM 2019

The St Helens TSA would like to invite all Head Teachers and Senior Leaders to the following briefings in the spring term:

  • Daisy Christodoulou- Making Good Progress: how can we measure pupil learning?- Tuesday 22nd January 2019. 9-1pm: Secondary Workshop and 12.30-4pm: Primary Workshop at Ibis Styles Haydock.
  • Analyse Your School’s Performance (ASP and IDSR) – How do you measure up?” for Governors- Thursday 28th Feb 2019, 6-8pm at The St Helens TSA POD.
  • Head teacher compliance briefing– NEW for 2019 (these will be run on a termly basis)- Thursday 7th March 2019, 1.30-3.30pm at The St Helens Hotel.
  • Nina Jackson- Teacher workload and WellbeingMonday 29th April, 1.30-3.30pm at The St Helens Hotel.

Mastery in Writing – ensuring depth; providing challenge and support; meeting the needs of ALL learners

The St Helens TSA would like to invite all primary teachers to the following training sessions:

Mastery in Writing- ensuring depth; providing challenge and support; meeting the needs of ALL learners

This training day will cover the following:

  • How do we really inspire our most able writers?
  • Who are our most able writers and how do we know?
  • Do we let them fly? Can they craft their own style?
  • Is greater depth about grammar?
  • High-quality books to inspire writing activities where GD children can soar
  • Pulling apart inspiring writers – looking at real samples of writing
  • Planning a unit of writing for the whole class that allows GD children to achieve their best be inclusive to all.

Sessions will take place on:

Upper Key Stage 2- Tuesday 5th February 2019, 9.30-3.30pm

Lower Key Stage 2- Wednesday 6th February 2019, 9.30-3.30pm

Key Stage 1- Tuesday 26th February 2019, 9.30-3.30pm

 

Venue: Nutgrove Primary School, Govett Road, St Helens, WA9 5NH

Cost: £150.00 per delegate this includes: all course materials, refreshments and a light lunch.

A 25% discount will be given to alliance members.

Year 2-3 improving reading stamina training for teachers

As requested by primary colleagues, St Helens TSA would like to invite all Year 2 and 3 teachers, support staff and English SLs to this one day training event:

Year 2 and 3 Reading for stamina

This training day will cover the following:

  • Identifying the features of the KS1 Reading Paper 2
  • How can we support year 2 children so they can access it?
  • How can we ensure that year 3 children ‘nail’ this paper?
  • Exploring the texts in the 2018 test and the mark scheme
  • Writing our own versions to take home and use.

Delegates will need to bring laptops to this session so we can share resources.

Time/date: Tuesday 29th January 2019, 9.30-3.30pm
