Title: How to use maths journals to support KS1 moderators making assessment judgements

Aims:

  • To provide an overview of teaching for mastery
  • To become familiar with the structure of Maths No Problem lessons
  • To explore how Maths journals can be used to assess attainment in mathematics

The training has been designed as a result of moderator training feedback from a number of LAs. The sessions will look at providing evidence/securing judgements and what to look for when participating in moderation activities through journaling and the use of a scheme.

To Take place on: Tuesday 30th April – 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Venue: The St Helens Hotel, St Helens.

Cost: £50.00 per delegate to include all course materials and refreshments.

Leading a Mentally Healthy School – Two Day Training Programme

New dates due to popular demand

Leading a Mentally healthy school training modules have been funded by Health Education England (HEE) and created by the School Development Support Agency (SDSA) in partnership with an expert group of educational psychologists, education consultants and mental health organisations.

The course is aimed specifically at Senior Leaders and focuses on reflection of current provision and strategic planning to help develop a mentally healthy school.

Target audience: Deputy Head and Assistant HTs, SENDCOs and Well being leads.

Leading a Mentally Healthy School aims:

To enable and empower senior leaders to put mental health at the heart of strategic school improvement.

To equip senior leaders with practical and sustainable approaches that can be implemented on return to school.

Module Content: This course is about LEADERSHIP of a mentally healthy school.

Module 1 : Ethos, culture and strategic leadership

What is mental health?

Why have a whole school approach to mental health?

The importance of ethos and culture.

Strategic planning.

To take place on: Thursday 13th June 2019, 9.30-3.30 at St Helens TSA POD, St Mary and St Thomas CE Primary School, Barton Close, St Helens, WA10 2HS.

The cost of the entire programme is: £50 per delegate. This includes a light lunch and all course materials.

Conference: Developing Vocabulary and the English Language to raise standards

Due to the huge success of last years’ Celebration of English Conference the St Helens TSA would like to offer both Primary and Secondary English Subject leaders, Senior leaders and anyone passionate about English, the chance to attend this year conference entitled:

Developing Vocabulary and the English Language to raise standards

The event will take place on: Wednesday 10th July, 8.30-4.15pm at Anfield Football Stadium, Anfield Rd, Liverpool L4 0TH (home of Liverpool Football Club).

The cost of the conference is £60 for the full day. This will include: all materials, tea/coffee and a light lunch.

During the day teachers will have the unique opportunity to hear from English specialists, poets and established authors. All delegates will have the opportunity to hear from the range of exciting speakers rather than having to select workshops to attend.
