Working alongside school leaders, this training programme will give Teaching Assistants the knowledge, skills and attitudes to give children effective support in mathematics. We will consider the role of the Teaching Assistant in building the attitudes and behaviours within children that will support their long-term mathematical development. Training will model effective pedagogy for building understanding in maths, allowing Teaching Assistants to become proactive in planning and supporting learning within the classroom. Opportunities will be provided for participants to reflect on their current practice, and application tasks will allow Teaching Assistants to apply the principles and ideas from the training.
Session 3 – Teaching Assistants only.
Reflection on facilitating effective discussion and collaboration. Further examples, tying in with pedagogy of using equipment/images. The role of the TA in the mastery curriculum, being proactive to address misconceptions. Planning application task Assessment for Learning.
The cost of the entire programme is £300.00. This includes all face to face sessions, materials, tea/coffee and light refreshments.
